The 1948 Kellogg’s PEP Celebrities trading card set, designated F273-19, was produced by Kellogg’s as a promotional item for its Pep Cereal brand. Measuring 1-3/8 x 1-5/8 inches, these black-and-white cards featured a total of 42 celebrities including 5 baseball players. There is 1 basketball player George Mikan. This is a true rookie given that it was released in 1948 like its Bowman counterpart.
The cards are unnumbered and unlabeled on the front, with identifying information, biographical details, and career statistics printed on the back. To further engage collectors, Kellogg’s also released a photo album specifically designed for storing the cards. Despite their small size and limited distribution, these vintage promotional cards remain collectible today, and are difficult to finding in high grades.
